Upgrading the current system will require huge amount of effort. It will be as difficult as implementing a new software. It could be more difficult depending on the both systems.
Therefore without having proper reasons, you should not upgrade the system. It’s not the software vendor who should decide the upgrade. It has to be you. You need to see if it is the right time to upgrade or it can wait. If possible, wait.
Having a fancy user interface, or animated charts/graphs are not good enough reasons to upgrade. But if it is required for your business, because the business has changed or grown bigger, only then you should consider upgrading or changing the system.
It will require same amount of effort in terms of project management and execution as implementing a new software.
